Wrinkle relaxing treatments

The Basics

Following a face to face consultation, Botulinum Toxin (Botox) treatment is used to reduce and eliminate skin wrinkles primarily in the upper part of the face. This treatment is suitable for almost anyone, is virtually pain free and takes approximately 15 minutes. It is a safe and established treatment and so the most popular aesthetic treatment. Results can be seen within a few days with full effect within 2 weeks.

If you are new to Coalport Skin Clinic an initial consultation for Anti wrinkle treatments is required before a treatment can be booked to assess medical suitability as this treatment requires a  Prescription Drug.  (please do not book an Anti wrinkle appointment directly after a consultation)

MODEL RELEASED. Botox treatment. Patient having botox injected into her face. Botox is a neurotoxin used for cosmetic purposes. The toxin is obtained from the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This bacterium causes botulism, a form of bacterial food poisoning. Small, safe amounts of botox are injected into facial muscles, paralysing the muscles and smoothing wrinkles. One treatment can last for between 3 and 6 months.Botox blocks the signal from nerve to muscle to stop the contraction of targeted muscles. As these muscles are unable to contract, the lines which they cause on the face soften, and may eventually disappear.

Botox is injected directly into the muscles that are responsible for contraction using an ultra-fine needle, and is virtually painless therefore requires no anaesthetic. For example in the frown region between the eyebrows, the strong muscles that are found here are injected to prevent the appearance of frown lines and deep wrinkles. The injections tend to take no more than 10 minutes. It usually takes around 24 hours to start to take effect and up to 2 weeks for the full effect, so it’s a gradual process. Usually the full benefits are achieved within 7-10 days and can last from 3-4 months depending on the individual. Repeat treatments are recommended 3 to 4 times per year.

Ideal for worry lines on the forehead, crows feet around the eyes and frown lines between the eyes. Botox is the UK’s most popular cosmetic procedure, because it is suitable for almost everyone.

There are very minimal side effects, potentially some patients may experience mild bruising, but generally patients can resume normal activity immediately after their toxin treatment without disruption.

Things to avoid after treatment are; heavy exercise for 24 hours after, heavy drinking 48 hours after, and facial massages for up to 2 weeks.

We want you to be entirely happy with your toxin treatment so before you leave the clinic at the end of your treatment, we will offer you a complementary check-up 2 weeks later, so that we can review the results of your treatment once it has taken full effect.

Baby Tox is a delicate approach in administering anti-wrinkle injections for a particularly natural and subtle result.

Baby Botox is a term which was first coined in the USA. After movie director Martin Scorsese complained that too many of his actresses were “frozen” and unable to use normal facial expression, actresses started seeking botox treatments which while they still work, are more natural and wear off more quickly in time for their next part on the big screen.

Baby Tox uses the same Botulinum Toxin solution for the injections in the same strength. However, smaller amounts are used and are placed extremely carefully into the fine dynamic facial muscles of the upper face where they will relax the muscle contractions by blocking nerve impulse. The results are achieved without any hint of the frozen look so that the skin appears softer and younger.

The treatment is not permanent, so patients should anticipate re-treatments every few months to prevent further wrinkles from appearing, though each injection should also reduce the depth of newer wrinkles. There are no “Top ups” offered following treatment.

This treatment is suitable for;

  • “First timers” – concerned about being “over treated”
  • Younger patients – who only need a light dose to stem the early signs of ageing
  • “Preventative patients” – who are using botox as a preventative measure, to suppress muscle activity so that lines and wrinkles do not develop as they tend to with non-users
  • Natural look seekers – patients who want an exceptionally subtle look to their results
  • Patients needing facial movement – e.g. those who want to keep their full range of facial expressions, yet have some subtle suppression of the signs of ageing so that they look good on screen or in photos
